NY Comic Con 2008 Day One
Friday, April 18th, 2008A bit later than I wanted to post, but there were some issues getting online in the hotel. Anyway, here it is.
I missed a bunch of the cool stuff (like Stan Lee) but still got to see some good costumes, and I got a few good deals on some comics. I’m not buying too much this year, I’m focusing more on getting stuff for my demo tape, but I’ll get into that later.
Here’s something different that I’m doing this year. Actually explaining the pictures I post. The top picture is the view from the hotel room window. The second is me (I’m in the middle, though I’m hoping most of you figured that out) with The Hellfire Club. Emma Frost (on the right, for anyone who doesn’t follow X-Men) dressed as Dark Phoenix last year, and she had an interview that made it onto Collector’s Quest’s highlights DVD.
I was going to give them a card for my site, but unfortunately they didn’t arrive. I guess “on or before 4/18″ doesn’t apply in all areas, because I definitely picked up the mail about two hours before leaving and I got everything imaginable except for my cards. Eh, I’m sure I’ll find another use for them when I finally get them. Instead, I gave them some other guy’s postcard with a doodle and my web address on the back. So if you’re reading this, shoot me an email and I’ll drop your names/site/anything you want within reason in the post (cgrillo at ninjasdontknit dot com).
Tomorrow’s where the fun begins. I’m off to bed so I can be up bright and early (yeah, not that early).
***Edit***
It’s after 2am and I still can’t get more than 8 or 9kb of the image to load no matter what I’ve tried, so I’m just going to take my laptop to the Ben and Jerry’s in the morning and update it there. Stupid internet connection…
***Edit 2***
Ben and Jerry’s wasn’t open, so after walking around for a bit I found a petty cool deli on 42nd between 8th and 9th. Though I ended up connecting to Burger King’s WiFi anyway.
